The Line is a system of higher-capacity power lines that is currently being built to address Connecticut’s growing energy needs. When it’s complete, The Line will transmit a greater amount of electricity from generation plants and substations throughout the region to the 54 towns in southwest Connecticut. It will run from Middletown to Norwalk, both above ground and under ground.

After years of thorough research and planning, the Connecticut Siting Council unanimously approved this project as the most technically-feasible, environmentally-sound and cost-effective way to bring our state’s electric transmission system up to modern standards. The construction of the Line is overseen by Connecticut’s two electric utility companies, The United Illuminating Company (UI) and Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P).
